SHOPPING HOURS

Shops are normally open from 9.00 to 5.00 Monday to Friday, and 9.00 to 1.00 Saturday.

The towns and villages of Wollondilly are quite small, Picton and Tahmoor being the major shopping centres.

In Picton shops of interest to tourists, are open 7 days a week.

In most towns and villages there will be cafes and take-away food bars open 7 days. Most restaurants open for both lunch and dinner; some open for dinner only. Many close on Monday evenings. Dining rooms in hotels are usually open most days and nights.

Supermarkets in the major towns (Picton, Tahmoor) are open 7 days a week from 8 or so in the morning to late at night (up to 9.00). Some open later and close earlier on Sundays.

PETROL

Service Stations keep normal business hours.

Larger outlets open for extended hours, 7 days. Service Stations can be found at Appin, Bargo, Camden Park, Menangle, Picton, Silverdale, Tahmoor, The Oaks, Thirlmere, Wilton.

A 24 hour roadhouse can be found on the Freeway at Pheasant's Nest.

BANKING HOURS

There are Banks only in:

Picton: Commonwealth Bank, National

These are open only Mon-Thu: 9.30 to 4.00 and 9.00 to 5.00 Friday. Closed weekends. Some villages have agencies which open one or two days a week.

There are also Building Society and Credit Union branches:

Picton: IMB Building Society, Macarthur Credit Union

Tahmoor: Macarthur Credit Union

These are open Mon-Fri 9 to 5, Saturday 9 to 12.

ATMs (automatic teller machines) are located in Picton, and Tahmoor. (Not all cards are accepted by all ATMs.)

EFTPOS facilities are available in all supermarkets, service stations, liquor stores, hotels and clubs, and many shops in larger towns. Most accept major foreign credit cards (but check before you leave home!)

Currency Exchange and Traveller's Cheques are normally only negotiable at banks or major resorts. Few smaller businesses have the facility to exchange these.

A nominal fee applies to exchange transactions.

Post Offices are normally open Mon-Fri 9.00 to 5.00 (agencies also Saturday mornings). Stamps can usually also be bought in Newsagencies.

HOSPITALS

There are medical practitioners in Bargo, Picton, Tahmoor, The Oaks, and Wilton.

Major hospitals are to be found in Camden, Campbelltown, and Bowral - none of which is more than 30 minutes away from most centres in the Wollondilly.
